Seasonward helps you explore travel destinations using historical climate averages. This notice describes the current version of the website.
Your searches and trip choices
City searches, selected dates, map selections, weather preferences, and destination comparisons are handled in your browser. We do not save these choices in a Seasonward account or trip database. City search uses a downloaded directory; what you type is not sent to a separate geocoding service. Climate calculations use data served with the site, not requests to a weather API for each destination.
Preferences on your device
When you choose °F or °C, we save that preference in your browser’s local storage, under seasonward-temperature-unit. This also controls rainfall units. The preference stays until you change it or clear the site’s browser data. Your browser may also cache site files.
On your first visit, we use your browser’s preferred language and region setting to suggest units. We do not request GPS access or use a location-lookup service for this.
Hosting and security
The website is hosted through OpenAI’s Sites service and delivered using Cloudflare. These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, timestamps, and security events to deliver and protect the service. Hosting and security cookies may also be used; Cloudflare’s __cf_bm security cookie has been observed on this site.
Provider handling and retention are governed by their services and policies: OpenAI privacy policy, Cloudflare privacy policy, and Cloudflare cookie information. We do not promise that visiting leaves no server logs.
Analytics and advertising
We do not currently collect on-site usage analytics or send feature activity to PostHog. There are no analytics identifiers, session recordings, advertising trackers loaded by Seasonward. Google Search Console provides reports about how Seasonward appears in Google Search; we have not installed Google Analytics.
Earlier versions offered optional PostHog analytics. Collection has stopped, including for people who previously opted in. This version removes our old analytics preference and session identifier from browser storage when it loads. Previously collected, consented events may remain in PostHog under its retention settings, for up to one year. See PostHog’s privacy notice.
Booking links
“Find stays” opens Booking.com through CJ’s affiliate redirect. “Things to do” opens Viator through an affiliate link. We may earn a commission on eligible bookings. Neither provider’s widgets or tracking scripts load on Seasonward. Clicking a booking link sends the destination name to that provider. Booking.com links from the map and comparison also carry valid upcoming selected dates, using the first day as check-in and the last as check-out. You can change them on Booking.com. Monthly guides leave booking dates open. We do not add your weather preferences, comparison list, or a visitor identifier to these links.
Affiliate links include our public partner IDs and a shared label identifying the section of Seasonward you clicked from. After a click, CJ, Booking.com, or Viator may process technical information and use their own attribution mechanisms to track referrals and bookings and provide partner reports to us. CJ may add a click identifier during its redirect. These services apply their own privacy practices. See CJ’s privacy policy, Viator’s privacy policy and Booking.com’s privacy policy. Weather scores and destination rankings are independent of commissions.
Your choices and other links
You can clear Seasonward’s saved temperature preference through your browser’s site-data settings. Links to data sources and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
We will update this page if our practices change.
